Value Stream Mapping Workshop
Synopsis
Recognising where there are wasteful practices in a process is fundamental to improving performance. Mapping processes creates a focus on where value is being added and where waste (in all its forms) is taking place.
Describing the value stream provides the data for deciding how to become lean in manufacturing or when delivering a service. It is key that differentiation is made between core and support activities. Whilst the core processes are fundamental to customer satisfaction there are often significant benefits from a review of enabling processes.
The value stream provides a map of the flow of work done. By identifying where value is added or there is ‘waste’, so opportunities to improve become apparent. In addition to recording the steps in a process, times, decision points, systems, links to other processes, measurements, re-ordering signals, etc. can be overlaid to provide a deeper knowledge and understanding of the process dynamics.
The outcomes and changes must be captured in standard operating procedures.
Driving out ‘waste’ helps to create a more wealthy business.
Outcome
Attendees will understand the tools and techniques required for Value Stream Mapping.
They will leave with a clear plan for application of learning. Delegates will be able to position this process within an overall approach to Continuous Improvement.

The programme is designed for managers, facilitators, coaches, engineers and operators who are involved in the implementation of improvement activities.
